STEELE CREEK (WBTV) - A young woman who was taking a shower on Halloween got a scare from an intruder looking for a "cookout," police said.

The woman, 26, was showering at her home in the 1100 block of Cureton Place in the McDowell Farms neighborhood around 11 am on Sunday, police said.

While showering, she told police that she heard her doorbell ring. She came out of her bedroom and saw a man that she did not know. The man was in her hallway, where she confronted him.

The man said that he was looking for a “cookout” and a someone named “Todd,” police wrote in a report.

The man then fled out the woman’s back door and got into a 4-door “boxy shaped vehicle that was parked in her driveway,” police wrote.

The victim told police that she might have left her back door unlock, which is how the suspect got into her home.

The car that the man fled in also had a woman in the passenger seat.
